Microsoft、「Internet Explorer Developer Channel」を公開
WebDriver APIやGamePad APIなどの開発中機能を盛り込んだ開発者向けのプレビュー版

米Microsoft Corporationは16日（現地時間）、「Internet Explorer Developer Channel」をWindows 7 SP1およびWindows 8.1向けに公開した。現在、本ソフトの公式サイトから無償でダウンロード可能。
「Internet Explorer Developer Channel」は、現在開発中の機能が盛り込まれた開発者向けのプレビュー版「Internet Explorer」。通常版の「Internet Explorer」と同じシステムに共存させることは可能だが、あくまでも開発者が「Internet Explorer」の開発の方向性を理解する一助として提供されているプレリリース版で、日常利用は想定されていないので注意。同社によると、将来的にはより安定した“ベータ”テスト版を提供する予定とのことで、“Developer Channel”はベータ版より前の段階に当たる、「Google Chrome」の“Dev”版や「Firefox」の“Aurora”版に相当するバージョンと考えて差し支えないだろう。
“Developer Channel”の「Internet Explorer」では、Webブラウザーの自動テストを行うための“WebDriver API”やゲームパッドを利用可能にする“GamePad API”といった新しいWeb標準技術に対応。“HTML5test”のスコアも、“372”から“378”へと若干上昇している。そのほかにも「F12開発者ツール」の改善や“WebGL”の強化などが盛り込まれているという。
なお、Windows 7環境で利用するには「Internet Explorer 11」、.NET Framework 4（フルバージョン）、「Windows Management Framework 3.0」に含まれる「PowerShell 3」が必要。
