Microsoft、IEのサポートを各OSで動作する最新版に限定する方針を明らかに
2016年1月12日より実施。「Internet Explorer 8」のサポートは終了へ

米Microsoft Corporationは7日（現地時間）、公式ブログ“IEBlog”で、「Internet Explorer」の新しいサポートライフサイクルポリシーを発表した。2016年1月12日より、それぞれのOSで利用可能な最新の「Internet Explorer」のみがテクニカルサポートとセキュリティアップデートの提供対象となる。
この施策は「Internet Explorer」のバージョンの断片化を防ぐためのもの。同社では、自動更新機能を有効化し、常に最新の「Internet Explorer」を利用するように呼び掛けている。
なお、2016年1月12日以降サポートされるWindowsと「Internet Explorer」の組み合わせは以下の通り。

これに伴い、「Internet Explorer 8」のサポートは2016年1月12日で打ち切られる。
